Dax Shepard has said he will have to undergo surgery after being injured in a motorcycle accident, detailing the recent incident Monday on his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“I was passing six guys at Sonoma Raceway on a motorcycle, and I was breaking really, really hard. Hard enough that the rear wheel took off for a good, I guess, 100 yards, and then someone came in – as they were allowed to, ”the 45-year-old actor explained.

“I was totally guilty,” he continued. “I thought I could slide in between, but someone came in and I was already fully braked and I couldn’t go anywhere.

Shepard said he then “cut off their bumpers and [he] went over the handlebars, “landing” pretty hard. “

Although Shepard returned to the track for “two more sessions” it was “too painful at the end”. On Monday, Shepard was examined in hospital, where he learned of the damage done.

“I have been in the hospital for seven hours today. And the final count was four broken ribs, the collarbone is broken in three places and I need surgery. And then I broke my hand that I had broken a few months ago, ”confirmed Shepard, who broke his hand in an ATV accident earlier this year.

Shepard added that despite the scary ordeal, he doesn’t think he will “stop” riding permanently, but “might be ready to quit for the rest of 2020.”

Shepard thanked fans for their support on Instagram on Wednesday, also showing his injury in a shirtless selfie.

“Thank you Armcherries for all the wishes and concerns. I’m in one piece and morale is good ? Sorry to worry, “he captioned the photo, which also featured wife Kristen Bell in the background.

“Lol bell in the background,” replied Whitney Cummings, to which Bell, 40, replied: “@whitneycummings politely shaking my head at his nonsense …”

Bell and Shepard have been married since 2013 and share two daughters: Delta, 5, and Lincoln, 7.
