Riverdale Star Lili Reinhart has confirmed that the drama’s upcoming fifth season will feature a seven-year time jump, meaning the main characters will ultimately no longer be teenagers.
The actress confirmed the huge change by appearing on Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon, saying work will begin in season five as soon as they complete the season four work that they had to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Well, we’re taking the first few episodes to end season four, technically,” she says. “And then season five, we actually, I think, jump seven years into the future. So we’re not going to be teenagers anymore.”

Joking that when the final episodes of season four finally air, “it will be very easy to tell when it was in March and when we shot in September,” the actress, who plays Betty Cooper in the drama, said she was “excited” to perform. an older version of his character.
