Missing Arkansas jogger found dead, suspect in custody: reports

Authorities in Arkansas have found the body of a 25-year-old woman who went missing on Wednesday when she went jogging and said she was murdered, according to reports.

Volunteers joined with Jackson County MPs to search for Sydney Sutherland near Newport. Her body was found near her home on Friday, Fox 16 Little Rock reported.

MPs have taken a man into custody and he is expected to be charged with manslaughter upon death, the station reported.

“We have a suspect in custody right now,” Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said at a press conference, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “However, I cannot release his name until he is officially charged.”

He said the suspect was a Jonesboro farmer.

The man and Sutherland knew each other, Fox 16 reported.

Parents of Sydney’s boyfriend Sutherland confirmed in a Facebook post that the body found on Friday belonged to Sutherland and that an arrest had been made, KAIT-TV reported.

Sutherland took her cell phone with her when she went jogging.
