The Sheriff’s Office in New York said saturday its deputies ended an illegal Halloween party of more than 387 people that violated emergency orders banning large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.

The police bust occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday at a warehouse in Brooklyn.

A photo released by the New York sheriff’s office shows a sea of people inside the warehouse who do not physically distance themselves. Some people have been seen wearing face masks while others have not.

MPs said they found three bars inside the party as well as a music DJ for what appeared to be a Halloween-themed celebration, NBC New York reported.

At least nine people described by officials as party organizers have been charged with multiple misdemeanors and health violations for allegedly ignoring city and state emergency orders against the coronavirus, according to the New York sheriff’s office.

Some other attendees have been charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and violating orders banning mass gatherings, NBC New York reported.

The party’s shutdown comes days after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Thursday he was witnessing a very “worrying” increase in coronavirus infections in the city’s five boroughs.

The city reported 3,604 new cases of coronavirus this week, or 12.6% from the previous week.

“We cannot allow that number to continue to rise,” de Blasio said Thursday, adding that a possible second wave could result in “huge restrictions”.
