Democrats brought their firepower to Michigan, the critical condition that helped seal President Trump’s victory in 2016.
Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama made their first joint 2020 campaign stop in Flint on Saturday afternoon, where they hit Trump hard for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and said it was time to restore decency in the White House.
“It’s time for Donald Trump to pack his bags and go home,” Biden said during the Halloween campaign shutdown. “We’re done with the chaos, the tweets, the anger, the hate, the failure [and] refusing to take any responsibility. “
Biden thanked Obama for being a “great” president and suggested that a Biden presidency would be free from scandal. Biden has dismissed recent claims that his son, Hunter, involved him in his overseas business dealings.
“[We] went through eight years without a single trace of scandal … It’s going to be good to come back to that, ”Biden said.
Obama and Biden both sued Trump for claiming in Michigan on Friday that doctors were deliberately inflating the coronavirus death toll to make money.
“What’s wrong with this man?” Biden said. “Excuse my language but think about it – he’s perverted. He can believe it because he doesn’t do anything but for money.”
Cases of COVID-19 in the United States hit an all-time high on Friday. But at a rally in Waterford, Michigan on Friday, Trump appeared to blame medics for the surge in coronavirus numbers in the United States.

“Our doctors make more money if someone dies from COVID. You know that, right? I mean our doctors are very smart people. So what they do is they say, ‘ I’m sorry, but everyone is dying from COVID, told me. Trump’s comments were quickly denounced by the American Medical Association (AMA) as outrageous.
Obama campaigned in the battlefield states for Biden, but Flint was the first time they had campaigned together on the home stretch, showing the importance they place on Michigan’s victory on Tuesday.
“Joe Biden is my brother. I love Joe Biden, and he will be a great president,” Obama said in his speech before Biden took the stage.
Obama has torn apart Trump’s handling of the growing coronavirus pandemic and accused the president of organizing mass-market rallies due to his obsession with large crowds.
“Trump cares about feeding his ego,” Obama said. “Joe cares about your safety and the safety of your family.”
Obama and Biden have developed goodwill in Michigan for efforts to save the auto industry at a time when Republicans like 2012 GOP candidate Mitt Romney wrote an op-ed titled, “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” Obama compared the GOP’s efforts to turn its back on the auto industry to Trump’s “botched” of the pandemic response and suggested that the GOP’s new slogan is “Let America be COVID”.
Obama has said Biden will control the pandemic, protect Americans’ health care, and restore decency to public service. “He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body,” Obama said of his former vice president.

After Flint’s appearance, Obama and Biden will travel to Detroit for a drive-in rally. They will be joined by Motown legend Stevie Wonder, whose “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” became something of an Obama campaign hymn in 2008.

If Biden wins Michigan, it would be a blow to Trump’s re-election. Trump stunned the world in 2016 by toppling three traditionally blue states – Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania – and Trump is playing another four years in the White House to repeat his success in the Midwest.
Michigan is also a major battleground state for the Senate, where Senator Gary Peters, D-Mich., Tries to fend off a challenge from Republican Army veteran John James.
Trump was tough in Michigan with a Friday rally in Waterford Township. He plans to return to the Great Lakes state on Sunday and Monday during his closing blitz.

The night before the 2016 election, Trump’s last campaign rally was after midnight in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Hoping to repeat history, the Trump campaign says the president’s last stop in the 2020 race will be Grand Rapids.

Trump defeated Clinton by less than 11,000 votes in 2016.
Democrats are trying to leave nothing to chance this time around and are calling for a strong turnout.
“We were a little complacent in the last election,” Obama admitted to Flint on Saturday.
Biden says he learned from the mistakes the Clinton campaign made four years ago in the Midwest.
At an event in Milwaukee on Friday, Biden recounted his campaign for Clinton in 2016 and added: “For many reasons – not all of which were his fault – [we] ended up not taking it so seriously. We thought it was different.
Clinton has been criticized for not campaigning enough in Midwestern states like Wisconsin and Michigan. After his dramatic loss in 2016, many Democrats criticized his campaign for being overconfident and overly complacent.
