GM has released the smallest of the teasers for its upcoming Chevy Bolt EUV electric car – the highly anticipated Bolt EV sequel.
Earlier this year, GM hosted an “ EV Day ” where we learned a lot more about their plans, including the launch of a Bolt EV-based crossover called Bolt EUV and an update to the Bolt EV.
Both vehicles are slated to go into production in the summer of 2021 and GM has teased them.
In August, they released a teaser image of the vehicle’s shape confirming that it will look a lot like the GM Buick Velite 7 electric SUV, which is only available in China.
Now GM is releasing another teaser for the Bolt EUV and this is just a very brief look at the vehicle’s power flow screen:
GM has also confirmed that the Bolt EUV will come with its Super Cruise hands-free driving system:
Chevrolet shared a preview of the 2022 Bolt EUV Power Flow display, which will provide owners with essential information about their electric vehicle, including the use of regenerated braking and battery charge level. The Bolt EUV will be Chevrolet’s first electric vehicle to feature Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system for highway compatible. The refreshed Bolt EV and Bolt EUV will go into production in summer 2021. “
Again, the vehicle is expected to go into production in the second half of 2021.
The new Bolt EV was supposed to come first, but it was delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking Electrek
As we have already reported, you can’t expect much performance improvement with the new Bolt EV and Bolt EUV.
These vehicles do not use GM’s new Ultium battery and new transmission technology.
They receive a few improvements from the current Bolt EV, but no major increases in range and power.
Nonetheless, we believe they could still succeed at the right price – even more if the U.S. Electric Vehicle Tax Credit comes back under a Biden administration, but that’s not guaranteed.
In addition, the EUV form factor will also expand the Bolt market.
