Alex Trebek spent his last day doing exactly what he wanted, staring at the horizon with his wife.
Trebek passed away on November 8 after a long battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The “Jeopardy!” The longtime host not only kept fans updated on his battle with health every step of the way, but he also continued to do his job by hosting the popular trivia game.
Speaking on the “Today Show,” game show executive producer Mike Richards shared a glimpse of how the 80-year-old TV icon spent his last day on Earth.
“Even in his book he described that he wanted his last day to be sitting on his swing next to his wife, Jean, and sort of staring at the horizon and he had to do that,” Richards said in an extract from his interview shared on the show’s Twitter.

He said Trebek had always been particularly fond of the swing on his property and even fixed it earlier this year. Richards noted that the host was very “convenient”.
“He was consistent, he didn’t hurt and the fact that he had a nice and final day puts us all in the ‘Jeopardy!’ the family is feeling a lot better, ”he concluded.
In a separate clip, the hosts released an old video in which Trebek broke the tension on set during a “Jeopardy!” game which featured record winner Ken Jennings stepping out pantless.

“He wanted the competitors to perform at their highest level and he reveled in a great ‘Jeopardy!’ game when it was competitive. These are some of our all time best competitors out there. There was tremendous tension on set. They all knew there was a lot to play on them and it just shows that he had an amazing sense of humor but also how important it was to have a big “Jeopardy!” Game. He loved it. He would come to the end of the show and say “boy, wasn’t that great? and he would look directly at the candidates and say ‘thank you’, ”Richards said. “And that sums it up.”
He concluded, “It was so important for him to do this show and support all that it means for America.”

“It’s a huge loss for the ‘Jeopardy!’ the staff, the crew and all of Alex’s millions of fans. He was an industry legend that we all had the chance to watch night after night for 37 years. Working alongside him for a year and a half as he heroically continued to host “Jeopardy!” was an incredible honor. His belief in the importance of the show and his willingness to push himself to perform at the highest level was the most inspiring display of courage I have ever seen. Her constant desire to learn, her kindness and professionalism will be with us all forever, ”said Richard.
