Actor Bert Belasco found dead in hotel room in Henrico

RICHMOND, Virginia – Bert Belasco, an actor best known for his role as Charles Whitmore in the BET comedy “Let’s Stay Together,” was found dead Sunday in a Henrico hotel room, first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by the Henrico font.

On November 8, 2020, the Henrico County Police Division responded to a hotel in the 1000 block of Virginia Center Parkway for a medical emergency. Upon arrival, first responders found an adult male, later identified as Bert Belasco, 38. III, of Woodland Hills, Calif., Deceased, ”a Henrico Police spokesperson wrote in an email. “Hotel staff, who had received a call to check on Mr. Belasco’s welfare when his family and friends could not reach him, called the division’s emergency communications center at 2 h 52 in the morning.

The actor’s father told TMZ his son was in Virginia for an acting role and was quarantined at a hotel before heading to work.

He said it appeared his son had died of an aneurysm, but was awaiting the results of an autopsy.

“As with all death investigations, Henrico Police detectives work closely with the Commonwealth of Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office,” the police email continued. “Although still in the early stages of the investigation, there is no sign of foul play, and the circumstances of the case do not appear to be suspicious.”

As news of Belasco’s death spreads, former co-stars and friends are sharing their feelings on social media.

“Heartbroken by the death of Bert Belasco,” Jackee Harry said on social media. “A talented and kind young man who I have had the pleasure of working with on #LetsStayTogether on multiple occasions. Hug your loved ones! Tomorrow is never promised.

“I am devastated by this news. Bert was my friend! We just spoke last week,” wrote Yvette Nicole Brown. “He was happy and excited about his new project and all the good that was to come.

Henrico police have been asked to provide additional information on the investigation into Belasco’s death.
