Elon Musk’s Boring Company Joins Tesla in Austin for New Tunnel Project

Elon Musk’s Boring Company has announced that it will join Tesla in Austin, Texas on a new tunnel project.

He’s already starting to hire.

The Boring Company is already involved in several tunnel and “Loop” projects in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Maryland.

A “ loop ” consists of a tunnel with Tesla vehicles moving passengers autonomously at high speed inside.

Now he adds another to the list.

The Boring Company posted several job postings in Austin, Texas, and tweeted something that feels like they want to build a tunnel in the city:

“Rumor has it that ‘Austin Chalk’ is geologically one of the best soils for tunneling. Do you want to know? Jobs in Austin now available. “

Musk’s start-up will join his other company, Tesla, in Austin.

The project they will be working on is currently unknown, but Musk has gained experience working with county officials, which will be helpful in getting such a construction project through the approval process.

Elon has previously spoken about Boring Company building loops and hyperloops at Tesla sites, including between the Fremont plant and Gigafactory Nevada.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Boring Company’s coming to Austin had something to do with Tesla.

I bet they’ll take advantage of Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas project to build a loop to Austin, then try to expand the loop across town – much like they used the Las Vegas Convention Center project to kick off the Las Vegas loop.

If Elon can also use Tesla’s experience working with Austin officials for the Gigafactory project to seek approval for a boring business loop, it could dramatically increase the chances of the project going.
