Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday backed the legal challenge to the Trump campaign’s voting results in several battlefield states in his first public comments since election day.

In his remarks, McConnell, R-Ky., Said, “No state has yet certified the results of its elections” and that recounts are expected to already take place in “at least one or two states”. The longtime senator argued that President Trump was “100% within his rights to examine allegations of wrongdoing and to weigh his legal options.”

Meanwhile, Attorney General William Barr gave federal prosecutors the green light on Monday to pursue “substantial allegations” of voting irregularities before the 2020 presidential election is certified next month, even though there is little evidence of fraud have been advanced.
