Jason Momoa is currently one of the biggest action stars in the world, but before his meteoric rise to fame, the actor was struggling financially.
The 41-year-old star was cast to play Khal Drogo in HBO’s hit “Game of Thrones”. However, Drogo was killed in 2011 before the series achieved juggernaut status.
Momoa admitted he was in serious trouble after losing that paycheck.
“I mean, we were starving after ‘Game of Thrones’,” Momoa told InStyle magazine. “I couldn’t find a job. It’s very difficult when you have babies and you are completely in debt.”

Momoa’s career changed dramatically when he was cast as Aquaman in “Justice League” in 2016, then directed his own breakout film in 2018 as a DC superhero in “Aquaman”.

His schedule is now on hold until 2024 with roles in Apple TV +’s “See”, Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated adaptation of “Dune” and an “Aquaman” sequel.
Momoa said that watching the trailer for “Dune” for the first time, he was in disbelief as to how far his career had come. “It was’ Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem ‘, and I was just like,’ Oh my God. I can’t believe my name was with these names. I feel like I’m still a child, panicked, ”he says.

He added that he couldn’t wait for audiences to watch him, as there are so many themes running alongside today. “This is not an alien against an alien – this is conflict between human tribes,” Momoa said. “And greed. It’s really touching home at the moment.
