No.1 Alabama at LSU and No.5 Texas A&M in Tennessee will not be played on Saturday due to COVID-19 concerns, bringing the number of Southeastern Conference games postponed this week to three.
The SEC said on Tuesday that the Aggies and the Volunteers would be postponed until December 12, but Crimson Tide’s game against reigning national champion Tigers may not be played at all after COVID-19 cases on LSU’s schedule .

Both teams have just left their opening dates and LSU already has a game against Florida No.6 scheduled for December 12 which had to be postponed last month. The SEC said it would consider using Dec. 19, the day of the conference championship game in Atlanta, to compensate for regular season games not involving teams playing for the title.
Texas A&M said it has three active cases of COVID-19, including two people who traveled with the team to South Carolina last week.
On Monday, No.24 Auburn’s game in Mississippi State was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing in the Bulldogs’ program.
At the U.S. Track and Field Conference, the Navy game in Memphis on Saturday was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests at the Naval Academy.
Alabama-LSU is generally one of the most anticipated games of the college football season. Last year, the Tigers broke a long losing streak in the series and won a thriller in Tuscaloosa, Ala. That propelled them to an SEC championship and a national title.
This year’s game was scheduled to start at 6 p.m. EST and broadcast on CBS, after network coverage of the Masters golf major. The pandemic forced the Masters to be postponed from April.

This is the second week in a row the Navy has postponed a game due to positive tests at the Academy and the quarantine of student-athletes. The Midshipmen were due to host Tulsa last weekend before this game was called off.
The Navy has not been in the field since November 2, and has not had regular practice since October 29.
The American hasn’t announced any potential makeup dates for Saturday’s game or the Tulsa-Navy game. Memphis and Navy do not share a common opening date for the remainder of the season.
