AEW unveils its video game plans

AEW had teased news on the video game front, and they delivered great excitement with a console game and two mobile games in the works.

Kenny Omega livened up the festivities by channeling Steve Jobs from his storytelling style to a replica black turtleneck outfit, jeans, sneakers, glasses and no belt.

Omega was looking to give fans a fun game they deserve. He considered NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, and Ken Griffey Jr.’s home derby. Omega has revealed the first test footage of an 8-bit match between him and Jon Moxley.

AEW Games

Everyone agreed it was trash so they scrapped it and aimed for a game over Without mercy and Virtual professional wrestling. AEW has teamed up with YUKE’s Future Media Creators to deliver a taste of the video game that will arrive on current and next-gen consoles.

Simulated match footage switched from Omega vs. Chris Jericho to Omega vs. Hikaru Shida. Shida timed Omega with his running knee to promote the possibility of dream matches in the dream world of video games.

Omega still had one thing to reveal, but he was interrupted by Aubrey Edwards. She ripped off her referee’s shirt to reveal a Jobs outfit as well. Edwards announced the mobile game Managing Director AEW Elite. The concept is to create a league and book games.

Omega tried once again for his special surprise, but Dr. Britt Baker DMD cut him off. She was also dressed like Jobs. Dr Baker revealed the AEW Games t-shirt. The revolutionary design has two sleeves and a hole for the head. It is available for purchase at shopAEW.com.

Omega went for this third attempt on his big announcement only to be interrupted by Cody Rhodes. Cody wanted to be responsible for video games for AEW, but Tony Khan told him no because Cody didn’t know anything about video games. Cody got to swing for something to be posted earlier. Presentation of the AEW Casino Double or Nothing mobile game coming this winter. Details were sparse, but it felt like a game of chance dressed up with AEW themes.

Finally Omega has arrived at its special moment. He recruited Hideyuki Iwashita (aka Geta), Without mercy legendary director and developer, to help create AEW’s dream console game.
