Dr Anthony Fauci said on Tuesday he would take Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine if approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
The infectious disease expert made the statement when Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC asked him if he would take the vaccine which Pfizer said was 90% effective.
“I’ll look at the data, but I trust Pfizer. I trust the FDA. They have been my colleagues for decades, the career scientists, ”Fauci said.
“If they look at this data and say that this data is solid, let’s go ahead and approve it, I promise you that I will take the vaccine, and I will recommend my family to do so.
Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Monday that the promising vaccine could be given to people by the end of the year.
But experts have warned of potential distribution problems, as the vaccine must be stored at extremely cold temperatures.
