Wichita State and Gregg Marshall are expected to go their separate ways in the next few days, a source told CBS Sports, confirming a report from Jeff Goodman at the Stadium on Tuesday night.
Marshall, 57, who took Wichita State to the 2013 Final Four and is the most successful coach in school history (331-121), had been investigated by several months after allegations surfaced earlier this year regarding physical incidents against former players and staff.
The allegations arose in private months ago, and launched an investigation, ahead of reports from Stadium and The Athletic which released on October 9. Both stories, citing multiple witnesses, claim that Marshall physically assaulted former Shocker Shaq Morris during the 2015-16 season. Morris spoke on the case at the stadium and described the altercation as a punch delivered by Marshall during team practice, a account supported by several unnamed players at the Wichita Eagle.
Stadium also reported earlier that former Wichita State aide Kyle Lindsted was strangled by Marshall during the 2016-17 season; Lindsted has not commented on the allegations. the Eagle also confirmed this allegation by anonymous sources. A long list of other alleged wrongdoing has been described in reports from Stadium and The Athletic, including Marshall telling a player of Native American descent to “get back on his horse” in addition to making “Indian howls” during the 2018 season. -19.
