Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) recently increased the electric range of its mainstream Model 3, allowing the vehicle to travel 353 miles on a single charge.
Now Electrek has spotted a European registration which was first seen on the tff forum revealing that the new Model 3 2021 comes with an 82 kilowatt-hour battery. This is an increase over the previous battery, in line with Panasonic’s message regarding the increased battery capacity.
Vehicles still use 2170 cells and have yet to upgrade to Tesla’s new 4680 cells, which were revealed on Battery Day.
Taking Benzinga: It seems that Tesla’s Model 3’s increased range is not just due to efficiency improvements, but also higher capacity cells.
The vehicles must have the same number of cells, which gives the same weight, more fuel capacity and more range.
It should also improve charging times, as a bigger battery can deliver more power for a longer duration. Homeowners now get more for their money when they buy a Tesla Model 3.
