Jason Momoa is arguably one of the biggest movie stars on the planet – when you’re the lead character in a billion dollar movie that’s really not in dispute – but the actor says in a short story. InStyle interview that ten years ago, things were a little riskier back in the days of his groundbreaking role in ‘Game of Thrones’.
Momoa had acted regularly since the 90s, including a long stint on “Stargate Atlantis”. But it was his turn as Khal Drogo on the 2011 first season of “Game of Thrones” that made him a name for people outside the genre space. The trap? His character was killed off in the penultimate episode, long before the show became the 2010s defining monster hit – and of course, he finished his scenes before the show even aired.

Which meant he didn’t collect any money at the end of the job. “I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones,” Momoa told InStyle. “I couldn’t find a job. It is very difficult when you have babies and you are completely in debt.
Fortunately, everything worked. “Game of Thrones” led to a stable film work and he was ultimately cast as Aquaman in the Warner Bros. movie franchise. based on DC Comics. And of course, his solo film, “Aquaman,” of 2018 grossed $ 1.1 billion. He will then be seen in the upcoming film adaptation of “Dune” and, as InStyle notes, his schedule is full until 2024.
