Kate Winslet shattered a movie record set by Tom Cruise after holding her breath underwater for seven minutes while filming a scene for “Avatar 2.”
The “Titanic” actress is teaming up with director James Cameron for the follow-up to her hit 2009 film. The Oscar-winning role in the upcoming blockbuster sent her back to the water, where she underwent extensive training and ended up breaking a record that Entertainment Tonight notes previously set by Cruise in “Mission Impossible: Rogue. The actress went somewhat viral in late October after the film’s official Twitter account shared a photo showing her in a diving tank filming an underwater scene. However, since she’s not really on social media, Winslet had no idea her record breaking shoot was even common knowledge.

Cameron previously revealed that filming on “Avatar 2” is over. However, he is filming several franchise sequels at once and notes that “Avatar 3” is almost complete as well. Still, the franchise’s first sequel is currently slated for 2022.
