TALLAHASSEE – Florida States the list continues to undergo a major overhaul Mike Norvell. The Seminoles took two more players off the list on Wednesday – QB James blackman and WR Tamorrion Terry – bringing the total of Seminoles to 16 players who have has left the program since Norvell took over in December.
Some, like TE Tre ‘McKitty and CB Kyle Meyers, were already looking to relocate before Norvell actually moved in. Others, like RB Khalan Laborn and CB AJ Lytton, have been removed from the list. Blackman and Terry are examples of in-season attrition, but they’re not alone.
Norvell has previously said he understands the squad move can be expected with a coaching transition, but was asked about the number of departures on Wednesday.
“A freshman coach in a program, I never think about attrition, from the first day I got here it’s all my guys, my players,” Norvell said Wednesday. “I’m responsible for them, and it’s part of my job to help them grow and develop in all aspects. I don’t want to lose any players. There are guys we had to go in directions with different, because of whatever circumstances or decisions that are made, but I can promise you that I want guys here who are 100% invested in growth and development.
“It will be about this constant and consistent work that we have to implement in all aspects. I am really excited about some of the steps that we have seen, especially some of the young players who have been forced to move on to the action here. Their attitude and approach has been pretty remarkable. But I’ve never come in like ‘this is what it’s going to be’ to see who is going to be in it and who is not. continue to retain people at the height of what it takes to be successful. ”
Most are looking for a fresh start elsewhere and it seems like a mutual start for both parties as Norvell seems open to revamping the roster entirely. He made several transfers this year – RB Jashaun corbin, TE Jordan wilson, OL Devontay Love-Taylor, Defensive DL Fabien Lovett, FROM Deonte Williams and of Jarrett jackson, as well as CB Meiko Dotson and CB Put Jones. Most of these additions started or settled between the two depths.
We’ve seen 16 players leave the program, transfer, or enter the transfer portal since December. Here’s a look at the attrition to date …
