“I am happy to report that I have given my full support and approval to Ronna McDaniel to continue leading the Republican National Committee (RNC),” Trump tweeted Wednesday evening. “With 72 MILLION votes, we received more votes than any sitting president in US history – and we will win!

McDaniel has yet to officially announce her intention to run for a third term, but Trump’s tweet makes it clear that she will have his support when she does.

McDaniel has led the RNC since 2017, having served as president of the Michigan Republican Party. She is the second woman elected as president of the RNC and is also a member of the Romney family.

Trump’s announcement comes about a week after the 2020 election.
