Nick Chubb felt great to be returning to the Cleveland Browns’ training ground this week.
Whether he will realize a similar feeling when he returns to action on Sunday against the Houston Texans remains a developing situation.
“I’m not sure,” Chubb replied Wednesday when asked if he was confident he could play on Sunday, via the team’s transcripts. “There is still a lot more to do than feel good. I have to go through medics, track and field coaches and coaches. It’s more than saying that I feel good.”
Missing the last four games with an MCL sprain suffered in a Week 4 win over the Cowboys, Chubb was named to return from the IR on Monday. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported as the Browns were “very optimistic“from Chubb playing Sunday.
Although there are four days left for this hope to remain, it is clear that the uncertainty is still present.
Every time Chubb comes back, it will be a godsend for the Browns (5-3). Chubb’s six over 20-yard runs are still at the top of the NFL despite missing the last four games. So far this season, Chubb has 335 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
“It’s great to be back with the team,” Chubb said of his return to training. “It’s been about five weeks, and I was bored of sitting here and rehabilitating every day, so I was excited to go out and be able to run and hang out with the boys on the field.
If Chubb continues to feel great throughout the week, maybe it will translate into his long-awaited comeback on Sunday.
