Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich (right) defended the state’s electoral process on Wednesday against accusations of electoral fraud and improper campaigning from the Trump campaign.
Appearing on Fox News, Brnovich was asked by host Neil Cavuto about recent disputes over the current vote in Arizona, including one in which a Trump’s campaign lawyer claimed to have evidence that the votes in Maricopa County were “improperly rejected” and called for the evidence to be sealed.
Lawyers for election officials have successfully argued to leave the evidence unsealed because the public “has a right to know how fragile the plaintiffs’ evidence actually is,” according to the Arizona Republic.
Brnovich dismissed the lawsuit as inconsequential saying, “We are talking literally less than 200 votes that are in question and in doubt. So the reality is, even though it was possible that those votes were reversed, those 200 votes. , I don’t think it’ll make a difference in Arizona just because of the numbers. “
“On election night, if you look at the numbers – and a lot of people who are really good at politics and polls here said it was possible for the president to come back,” Brnovich said. He said the reality of the election is that Trump’s chances of returning to the ballot were “highly unlikely” given the number of ballots remaining and the percentage he would need to make gains.
According to Brnovich, there are less than 50,000 votes left and the president would need to get 65% to win Arizona.
“My point is this, Neil, is that we have to deal with facts and evidence,” Brnovich said. “If there is a problem, or if you think there is a potential problem, the answer is you don’t wait until it is done to take legal action. If you have problems with registrants on the voters lists, you know, other problems, you have to tackle those problems prospectively rather than reactively.
Cavuto praised Brnovich, a Republican, for his “nerves of steel and his spine up to par,” delivering news that party members probably wouldn’t enjoy hearing.
Brnovich ended his interview by noting that although there was indeed a conspiracy, he had not succeeded in obtaining other elected seats for the Democratic Party.
