(Reuters) – Alphabet Inc’s Google-owned YouTube said Wednesday evening that it fixed an issue that caused the video streaming service to crash worldwide.
DownDetector.com, a website that monitors outages, has shown nearly 286,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the service.
The problem began around 6:53 p.m. ET (11:53 p.m. GMT), according to Downdetector.com, with users complaining of issues watching videos on the platform.
“We’re sorry for the interruption. This is resolved on all YouTube devices and services,” YouTube said in a tweet https://bit.ly/36r4sjz, without explaining the cause of the outage.
Google did not respond to a Reuters request for comment on the outage.
