Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are the Democrats on the ballot in Georgia’s Jan.5 runoff election that will decide control of the US Senate – but if Republicans have their way, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer , will, in the minds of voters. , also be on the ballot.

The comment was cut almost immediately in an ad online by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). Loeffler and Perdue have insisted on the quote relentlessly this week, with Loeffler referring to it during a rally with Senator Marco Rubio, of R-Fla, on Wednesday.

“You may have heard it said, ‘Now we take Georgia, then we change America,’” Loeffler said. “Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, you’re not going to take Georgia, it’s ours.”
“Everything is at stake in Georgia,” Casey Black, the main spokesperson for the Perdue campaign, added Thursday. “A vote for Jon Ossoff is a vote to hand full control of Congress to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi … Republicans in Georgia know exactly what’s at stake – the future direction of our country – and they are urged to re-elect David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler and defend the majority in the Senate. “
It comes as Democratic candidates also recognize what is at stake in the race – whether Schumer or the current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Is able to control the Senate’s agenda in 2021.

Stephen Lawson, director of communications for Loeffler, added that “Chuck Schumer, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff want to radically transform our America into a socialist state and irreversibly destroy our country.”
Republican Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla., Meanwhile, runs ads in Georgia through a Political Action Committee he oversees, which reads Schumer’s comments before Scott exposes what ‘he claims to be the stakes of the election.
“Their change? Cut police funding, eliminate employer-based health insurance, limit the Supreme Court, undermine our religious freedom and gun rights, ”Scott accuses on the spot. “Georgia, don’t let these radicals change America.”
And conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, a prominent McConnell supporter, has pledged to air the Schumer clip on his radio show three times a day until the Jan.5 second round. “Because that would be not to broadcast professional misconduct,” Hewitt said in a tweet Wednesday.

Joe Manchin, DW.V., made it clear this week that he would not vote with his party’s more liberal wing on major structural changes such as the elimination of the obstruction of the Senate or the consolidation of the Supreme Court.
But with Biden’s nonetheless ambitious legislative agenda, Senate oversight will still matter on issues such as Biden’s proposal to add public health insurance to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), appointments to the Cabinet, the cancellation of Trump’s tax cuts in 2017 and more.
Trump himself joined in amplifying Schumer’s quote Thursday morning, retweeting a wave of posts from Perdue, Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and others who have cited Schumer’s comment or have it reference.

The battle over whether Schumer or McConnell will be the majority leader next year hasn’t fully taken over Georgia’s race. The Perdue campaign hammered Ossoff with attacks on the financial ties between his media company and a company owned by the Chinese government. Ossoff retaliated by attacking Perdue’s lack of public appearances and linking Perdue to the Republican states lawsuit to overthrow the ACA that was debated this week in the Supreme Court.
Loeffler criticized Warnock for his connections to the controversial Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who has a history of anti-Semitic comments.
“Warnock celebrated anti-American hatred,” levels an ad from Loeffler, before playing an old Warnock clip saying “Jeremiah Wright does what he should be doing, he’s a preacher and a prophet”.
The Warnock campaign, meanwhile, responded that these Loeffler attacks are “the lowest of the lowest.”
“These ads are misleading and say a lot about Kelly Loeffler. You would think the senator would have something good to say about herself, but instead she uses the lowest of the low attacks to try and save her campaign, ”the communications director said. But it is not the flaws of the individual candidates that have the potential to make these two rounds one of the costliest two months of non-presidential politics in American history. Nor are these the reasons why a host of bold national political voices will descend upon Georgia at this time.
That includes Scott, who will appear in person for Loeffler and Perdue on Friday, and former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, who will attend a virtual event for Warnock on Thursday.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., also raised money online for the race. Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham, RS.C., said Thursday on Fox & Friends that he would transfer $ 1 million from his campaign to Loeffler and Perdue. And Trump and former President Barack Obama are both expected to run in Georgia within the next two months.
“It is Georgia’s decision to make. But it is America that will live with the consequences of the decisions it makes here,” Rubio said Wednesday.
