Clare Crawley and Dale Moss’ early exit from “The Bachelorette” wasn’t the only controversial moment in Season 16.
During a recent appearance on Maria Menounos’ “Better Together” podcast, host Chris Harrison discussed the date of the polarizing volleyball group that Crawley’s suitors attended.
“Is there a double standard? Would we have done this to women? No, I’ll tell you right away. No, because it’s not right. Is it a double standard? Yes. Should there be double standards in the world? Maybe, ”Harrison said.
Harrison, 49, has been part of the “Bachelor” franchise since 2002.
Last month Crawley addressed the split date on Twitter after being questioned by a critic.
“@Clare_Crawley It’s awful guys get naked if the bachelor asked women to do the same things everything would go wild. You were wrong. Juan Pablo should have undressed you, ”one user tweeted last month.
Crawley, who first appeared in Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of “The Bachelor” in 2014, then responded with a blast from her past.
“You mean like that?” she tweeted alongside a shirtless photo of Galavis, who had taken part in a risky photoshoot during his season.
In addition to criticism from Twitter, Crawley was also confronted on air by a former competitor, the beleaguered Yosef Aborady.
“You are not setting a good example for my daughter. I’m ashamed to be associated with you, ”he said at the time. “I can’t believe I sacrificed so much to be here just for this tasteless, classless display.”
Spoiler alert: Crawley’s fiancé, Moss, then came to her rescue. She has since been replaced by Tayshia Adams, who made her “Bachelorette” debut last week.
