Aaron Pico viciously knocks out John DeJesus

It’s safe to say at this point that the Aaron Pico train is safely back on track.

The high-profile prospect, who stumbled with three losses in his first seven fights, dominated the Bellator 252’s preliminary bout before winning by vicious KO on Thursday.

Pico (7-3 MMA, 7-3 Bellator) looked like a fight session against John DeJesus before finishing him off with a hard forehand at Mohegan Sun Arena. The knockout came at the 4:12 mark of the second round.

The victory is the third in a row for competitor Jackson Wink MMA.

Pico began to impose his will from the start, using his superior struggle to take DeJesus (13-9 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) to the mat. Pico remained active on the mat as he offered an attack while constantly looking to improve his position.

DeJesus, at the very least, proved resilient as Pico continued his attack. In the second, Pico scored another takedown and nearly had his head and arm strangled. DeJesus got to his feet, but this time was abandoned by a bullet to the body. DeJesus got back on his feet once again, but Pico let him down with a huge overhand right and finished things on the ground.

Pico awarded his transfer to Jackson Wink MMA earlier this year for his victory and development.

“When I started with them, I was broken,” Pico said. “I was 4-3, and I had some really tough losses, and they put me back together, man.

Pico’s seven career wins have been finishes.
