WATCH: Boise State returns three blocked kicks for touchdowns in win over Colorado State

Boise State needed a rebound performance in the worst way after a 51-17 loss to No.8 BYU last week. The Broncos certainly did it in an impressive 52-21 win over Colorado State, but the way they won the game was just crazy.

The Broncos scored three special team touchdowns in the first period, two blocked puntings and one blocked basket.

It all started just 52 seconds into the game when Boise State forced a three-and-out and forced a Colorado State punt. Cornerback Avery Williams made it through the Colorado state blocker wall and deflected the punt. In addition, Williams was also able to fall on the ball in the end zone for the first points of the evening.

In the middle of the first quarter, after the Broncos a 14-0 lead. Colorado State kicker Robert Liss was attempting a 28-yard field goal which would have reduced the deficit. Instead, Liss’s attempt for a field goal was blocked by Boise State and Kekaula Kaniho happened to be in exactly the right place, picking up the ball and passing it off for a 91-yard touchdown return.

The Broncos weren’t over yet as the game was late in the second quarter. Much like the punt in the first quarter, Colorado State’s slam on the punt was a bit high and punter Ryan Stonehouse didn’t really have much time to get the kick off. Stonehouse’s punt was blocked again by Williams, and linebacker DJ Schramm ended up recovering the ball and staying intact in the end zone.

The special teams hat trick helped keep the Broncos unbeaten in the Mountain West game, with a trip to Hawaii scheduled for next week.
