The children of President Donald Trump are divided over whether the president should soon concede the presidential election or keep fighting, CNN reported.

The contradictory advice comes as Trump continues to baselessly challenge the results that saw him lose to Democratic challenger Joe Biden, now president-elect.

Citing anonymous sources, CNN said Ivanka Trump – his eldest daughter and White House adviser – believes Trump should officially concede the election once the recount in Georgia is complete.

Her husband, Jared Kusher, shared this point of view.

But, according to CNN, his adult sons Don Jr. and Eric believe Trump should keep fighting.

Trump’s three oldest children have been among his closest allies as president, acting as his advisers and substitutes at rallies and continuing his family business connections.

And Don Jr. in particular echoed and argued Trump’s claims, including those Trump shared without any evidence.

A source told CNN that Ivanka approached her father, fearing that a long scuffle would further damage his reputation and businesses.

Another source said she and Kushner wanted Trump to let his existing court challenges unfold and concede after Georgia’s recount, which is due Nov. 20.

Kusher, who is also Trump’s adviser, had previously contacted Trump to concede, CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins reported earlier this month.

In contrast, Don Jr. and Eric want Trump to continue fighting after the recount.

The report comes after other reports point to a split among those close to Trump over what the president should do. CNN also reported earlier this month that First Lady Melania Trump also told Trump to concede.

Trump’s oldest sons have shared theories that support their father’s on Twitter.

Don Jr. tweeted on Nov 8: “We have gone from 4 years in Russia rigging elections, elections can’t be rigged very quickly, can we ???”

And Eric Trump shared both unproven and disproved claims about ballot issues, as well as tweets from his father and brother.

A White House spokesperson and a spokesperson for Don Jr. declined to comment on CNN.

Trump has so far refused to concede the election, instead promoting baseless theories of voter fraud and claiming he wins through recounts and court challenges.

His denial means Biden has so far been denied access to resources such as funding and intelligence briefings for his transition.

A source close to Trump’s thought told CNN that Trump doesn’t think he’ll win the election, but wants to appear to be fighting for his supporters: “He knows he’s not going to win, but he also knows that he’s got all the cards right now because he knows he’s won 72 million votes and founded a movement. “

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Trump’s top advisers were privately admitting that Trump was unlikely to overturn the election result.
