A well-known Dallas dentist and aspiring rap artist was shot several times Thursday night, according to his social media post on Friday night.
In the post, Jerret Rosenborough, known to Dr Rose, said: “I am very grateful to be able to say that I am recovering well with my family.” He thanked the supporters and said he was taking the time to focus on the recovery.
“I want to thank everyone who prayed for me and my family, and DALLAS for always showing me love no matter what,” said Rosenborough.
Rosenborough and two others were injured in the shooting north of downtown Dallas. Police said the victims went to hospital. They left behind a bullet-riddled vehicle and an office building with broken windows in the 4200 block of the Central Freeway around 9 p.m. Thursday.
The office is where Rosenborough practices dentistry. On his Instagram page, which has more than 150,000 followers, Rosenborough calls himself “Dr Rose”. His profile includes photos of patients and photos and videos of him on stage. His biography says, “Your favorite rapper is a denist.”
In his Friday night post, Rosenborough said, “My situation has absolutely nothing to do with the death of Mo3,” a well-known Dallas rapper who was killed Wednesday.
Gunfire Wednesday ended rapper Mo3’s life south of downtown on Interstate 35-E. Family and friends knew the victim as Melvin Noble.
Police said the 28-year-old victim got out of his car on the highway and tried to flee from his attacker, but was shot dead on the highway.
Noble manager Brandon Rainwater blamed jealousy for the murder and said social media posts about the shooting should help provide clues to police as to who was responsible.
Rainwater said on Friday he didn’t think the two shootings were related. A police spokesperson said detectives also believed there was no connection other than bullets and rap music.
Both cases remain under investigation. There had been no arrests on Friday afternoon.
A candlelight vigil was held Friday evening for Mo3.
As of Thursday, 212 homicides had occurred in Dallas in 2020, exceeding the total number of murders in 2019.
Family, friends and fans come together for a vigil in remembrance of the Dallas rapper MO3. MO3, real name Melvin Noble, was shot down Wednesday on I-35E near Marsalis. Texas Sky Ranger captured the scene as two blocks around Dallas City Hall closed for a vigil in the plaza.
