Harry Styles is the first man to appear solo on a Vogue cover. Conde Nast magazine has been around for 127 years and has only been on the cover of men 10 times.

In the December magazine cover story, Styles, who wears a Gucci jacket and dress, shared his thoughts on personal growth, whether in musical style, fashion, or cultural awareness.

“I think with music it’s so important to evolve – and that extends to clothes, videos and all that,” he says. “That’s why you look back at David Bowie with Ziggy Stardust or The Beatles and their different eras – that fearlessness is super inspiring.”

Styles’ album “Fine Line”, released in December 2019, produced two hit singles, “Adore You” and “Watermelon Sugar”, with a third, “Golden” on track.

Experimentation and evolution play a key role in the singer’s musical career, as evidenced by his fashion choices. Known for his sexist approach to style, Styles believes that gender-based clothing only limits the possibilities of expression.

As the singer and songwriter told Vogue, “Clothes are there for fun, experimenting and playing with. What’s really exciting is that all of these lines are falling apart. When you take off “There are men’s clothes and there are women’s clothes”, once you remove the barriers, you obviously open the arena where you can play. “

But the growth isn’t limited to Styles’ artistic endeavors, as he’s also discussed social movements like Black Lives Matter. Education and the willingness to listen are ways he believes people can engage in becoming more empathetic towards others.

“I tried to read and educate myself so that in 20 years I will still do the right things and take the right steps,” he said. “I believe in karma, and I think it’s just a time right now where we could use a little more kindness, empathy and patience with people, be a little more prepared to listen and to grow.
