Drew Brees is questionable returning to Sunday’s game against the 49ers after sustaining a rib injury in the first half. Substitute Jameis Winston came in relief to start the third quarter.
The veteran Saints quarterback looked uncomfortable after being sacked by 49ers defensive end Kentavius Street midway through the second quarter as he looked to play on the field. The street was reported for abusing the passer on the game.
Brees finished the half, but started the second half watching from the sidelines with his helmet on as Winston took over from under the cross. Taysom Hill also took a few more shots at QB as he did in some packs before Brees’ injury.
Brees completed eight of 13 passing attempts for 76 yards and a touchdown before leaving.
