The Steelers beat Bengal to go 9-0

Last week all the Pittsburgh Steelers heard was that they weren’t as good as their record and with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the Reserve / COVID-19 roster, this game with the Bengals from Cincinnati was anything but a gimmick.

The Steelers took it all to heart and despite a less than perfect game, they outscored Cincinnati 36-10.

The story of the game was Roethlisberger. After staying at home all week and unable to train with the team, Roethlisberger took full control of the game. Big Ben finished with 333 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and, once again, did not return the ball.

Roethlisberger passed to seven different players, including Diontae Johnson, who had six passes for 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. But he wasn’t with JuJu Smith-Schuster caught nine assists and rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool caught two more touchdown passes.

In defense, Pittsburgh was once again too much for a rookie quarterback. During the season, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow averaged nearly 300 yards per game, but the Steelers kept him at 213 yards and put him under duress for most of the second half.

Plus, having been slashed in the running game for the past two weeks, the Steelers have really made a name for themselves there, too. The Bengals were only able to rush for 139 total yards and no back had 50 rushing yards.

Pittsburgh now heads to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars 1-8.
