Twitch to donate $ 1 million to AbleGamers to help disabled gamers

Twitch has pledged to donate $ 1 million to the AbleGamers charity to help “change the lives of thousands of people with disabilities.”
Steven Spohn, the COO of AbleGamers, had a goal for its 40th anniversary to raise $ 1 million for the charity AbleGamers, a group that uses pleasure to “bring inclusion and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities through the power of video games”.

Hours before the announcement, Spohn’s initiative had grossed more than $ 150,000 in donations, and Dr Lupo helped reveal that Twitch would donate an additional $ 1 million to AbleGamers to help make a difference for so many people in the world.

AbleGamers was founded in 2004 by Mark Barlet and Stephanie Walker after Walker began to have difficulty controlling a mouse to play video games due to multiple sclerosis. They decided it was time to make the game accessible to people with disabilities to make sure, as they say, that everyone can play.

AbleGamers has done an incredible job since then, especially with Microsoft to help develop the Xbox Adaptive Controller.Accessibility has been a much bigger focus in the game recently, thanks in large part to the work of Spohn and AbleGamers, and it’s seen to be central in games such as The Last of Us Part 2.

In addition, the first annual Gaming Accessibility Awards take place tonight, November 15, 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET, and the show is hosted by Spohn and IGN alum, Alanah Pearce.
