This year’s Rockefeller Christmas tree, which comes from central New York City, reminds many people of Charlie Brown.
The 75-foot Norway spruce, donated by Al Dick from Daddy Al’s General Store in Oneonta, New York, arrived in New York on Saturday for the annual holiday tradition. Many social media users have complained that he doesn’t look very full after being lifted into his place by a crane, and likened him to the sad tree from “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.

- “The Rockefeller Center 2020 Christmas tree looks like 2020,” another Twitter user said.
- “Could the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree look worse?” 2020 on the brand, ”Rex Chapman wrote.
- “You get what you pay for at Four Seasons Total Landscaping!” one user joked to Chapman.
- “In its true 2020 form, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree appears to have tried to cut its hair,” another tweet said.
Good grief. Some have also compared it to the Fountain Square tree in Cincinnati, which was mocked earlier this month.
“Rockefeller Tree is trying to run against the Fountain Square tree for the Charlie Brownest 2020 tree,” one Twitter user said.
“The Rockefeller Tree. The Cincinnati Tree. You know what? ALL 2020 Christmas trees should be Charlie Brown trees. Each dang one. I wouldn’t have it any other way. On New Years Eve we can all turn them on and pretend none of this ever happened, ”another tweeted.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was cut down in Oneonta Thursday and loaded onto a 115-foot-long trailer before arriving in New York City. The tree will be decorated over the next few weeks, with additional branches and over 5 miles of lights.
A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 2 at 7:00 p.m. on NBC’s “Christmas at Rockefeller Center” special. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no public access to this year’s event, but the lighting will be broadcast on television to carry on the tradition.
