While Sony’s shiny new PlayStation 5 hardware is now available, many owners are quickly finding that modern video games – with their stingy desire for storage space – are quickly filling their SDSs barely a week after launch. But in a recent interview with The Telegraph, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said Sony was not concerned about the issue, convinced that the PS5’s storage capacity was adequate for most gamers.

“We don’t hear that,” Ryan said. “We’re obviously going to be looking at what happens when people unbox their PlayStations and start using them. We think everything will be fine. We are obviously able to monitor hard drive usage on the PS4 under a microscope and whatever we do. saw there indicates that we should be fine. “

The PlayStation 5 currently does not allow games to be stored on extended storage devices, and as such Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops and that of Sony Spider-Man: Miles Morales are chewing up valuable storage space with large files. Cold War only takes 135GB more on new gen consoles in its full state.

The internal storage of the PS5 can be upgraded with Sony certified solid state drives, although the technology doesn’t come cheap. Extended external storage for PS5 versions may become an option with future firmware updates. But for now, PS5 owners will need to be smart and frugal when it comes to handing out their precious SSD space, as it appears Sony doesn’t currently share customer concerns.
