Doom Eternal Switch has not been canceled but is now a digital-only version

Earlier today, customers began reporting that GameStop was canceling pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch. IGN has learned that it’s not because Bethesda canceled Doom Eternal Switch, but rather is making it a digital-only version.

“While Doom Eternal is 100% on track for an imminent digital release on Nintendo Switch, the lack of a physical retail release has resulted in pre-orders being canceled.

They added, “Affected customers will receive a full refund and should contact their preferred reseller for more information.”

Doom Eternal released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in March, but a previously announced Switch version would arrive a bit later. While the publisher still hasn’t announced an appropriate release date, pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch were available to interested customers.

Bethesda says customers should stay tuned for more information “to come later this month.” Check out IGN’s Doom Eternal review here for more on the Doomslayer.
