There are two key offensive players in the South Carolina soccer team and one of them appears to be out of play after the first practice. Wide receiver Shi smith caught a pass in the game’s first practice and was sandwiched by three Missouri players. He stayed in bed and took a while to get up.
After halftime, Smith returned to the sideline in street clothes.
The trainers treated Smith on the field for several minutes. Smith finally stood up and slowly walked off the field with these coaches towards the injury tent.
After spending the entire opening run of Missouri in the injury tent, Smith slowly walked with the coaches to the locker room.
Smith had a hold on the game and went for nine yards. It was his only target on the Gamecocks’ opening disc, which ended in a fourth failed conversion attempt.
So far this season, Smith has 54 catches for 605 yards and four touchdowns. These statistics include the only reception of the game against the Tigers. Smith leads the Gamecocks in all three of the aforementioned categories.
No other wide receiver has more than four catches or 113 yards, the two marks held by Xavier Legette, who is injured. The only other wide receiver with a touchdown this season is junior Josh vann.
Earlier this week, Smith accepted an invitation to play in Reese’s Senior Bowl. Reese’s Senior Bowl, as usual, will be held in Mobile, Alabama. It will be held this year at Hancock Whitney Stadium, home of southern Alabama, and will air on the NFL Network. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday January 30, 2021.
