Cyrus said she decided not to play the blame game.

“One of the things I used is, ‘Don’t be mad, be curious’,” she said. “So don’t be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, ‘What happened?'”

The star said she is having moderation issues and said she believes everyone should do what’s best for them.

It might not be sobriety for everyone, Cyrus said, although she said her alcohol can lead to impulsive behavior.

“I have no problem drinking,” she says. “I have a problem with the decisions I make once I get past that level of … Even in it, I just wanted to wake up 100%, 100% of the time.”

Cyrus has been through a lot and calls the last three years of his life a “cocktail of chaos”.

During this time, she separated from her husband, actor Liam Hemsworth, after less than a year of marriage, but an intermittent relationship for a decade.

Before the breakup, the couple lost their home to wildfires in Malibu.

Cyrus turned 28 on Monday and told Lowe that turning 27 really pushed her to get sober “because we lost so many icons at 27”.

“Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse are some of the celebrities who have all died at this age,” she said. “This is a very pivotal time. You are entering this next chapter or it is for you.”

Cyrus’ latest album, “Plastic Hearts”, is released on Friday.
