Utah and Washington to play Saturday after Arizona State game canceled

Utah and Washington will play in Seattle on Saturday, the Pac-12 announced on Tuesday.

The game came just hours after Utah’s game against Arizona State was canceled, leaving the Utes and Huskies without an opponent this week. The rivalry match between Washington and Washington state was called off Sunday.

“The schedule for this match is in line with the Conference’s commitment to provide opportunities for student-athletes through maximum schedule flexibility while prioritizing health and safety,” said the Pac- 12 in a press release.

When the Pac-12 announced it would allow non-conference games, it included a stipulation that if a Pac-12 team became available on Thursday of a given week, a non-conference match would be canceled in order to give priority to a conference match. The rule would have prevented a BYU-Washington game from taking place, had the schools’ early-week talks resulted in a deal to play.

The game is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
