The debate around Wraith still rages on in Apex Legends. Despite the changes after the changes, she is still a power choice in many situations. However, in Season 8, Respawn pulls the final straw in an attempt to bring Wraith “under control” once and for all.
Wraith has been slowly adjusted over the 20 month history of Apex Legends, going from shockingly broken to somewhat manageable. Although she was struck by a lot of nerves in June’s Lost Treasures update, she still reigns supreme in the Outlands.
However, Respawn doesn’t give up hope of finally bringing the Voidwalker under control. In an interview with the third-party podcast, developer Daniel Klein said more changes are underway in Season 8.
While he joked about removing Wraith from the game, Respawn actually has a direction to take. They don’t want to hit Wraith’s kit harder. They want to see if they can “fix” their hitboxes.
“I don’t want to hit his kit anymore. We’ve taken this to the breaking point where it’s barely fun, but the extreme winding-up of his ace tactics – as much as needed – puts the ability more in the camp of brain power rather than satisfy in the moment of power, ”he said.
“With Wraith, our approach will be very similar to Pathfinder. We’re going to take a look at its hitboxes and see how much leeway we have there. With Pathfinder, it turned out we had so many… it was a 20% increase in the size of the hitbox. “
The Pathfinder changes delivered in the Season 7 update earlier in November and made the Grapple Bot a little easier to hit while rushing over Olympus and the other maps.
Despite Respawn’s hopes, nothing is locked. They have just started looking for work to change Wraith’s hitboxes. Klein has said he hopes the changes are enough that Respawn can even consider polishing Wraith down the line, but the solution could be a dead end.
“Nothing is guaranteed yet, we have not yet started to work. I asked one of our technical artists to review it. Each time he gets there, we’ll know more.
“I sincerely hope we can get it under control with just some hitbox changes, then maybe even look for ways to make it even more fun in the moment, and strike a balance between its current tactics and what it was before.” . be.”
They aren’t willing to risk “powering Wraith more” by sending in changes early before they tackle his hitboxes, so don’t expect any ability upgrades anytime soon. However, in Apex Legends Season 8, expect Wraith to feel a little different.
