With the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in 2018, Google launched a top-notch wireless charger. Since then, it has remained compatible with Google’s flagship phones and added new software features. For Black Friday, the Google Store sharply reduced the Pixel Stand by 50%.
Update 27/11: Since this offer has been available since Sunday, the Pixel Stand is now out of stock on the Google Store. Google is unlikely to restock the accessory before the 50% off offer ends on November 30. More broadly, it remains to be seen whether Google will produce a second generation wireless charger. A similar offer is still available at Best Buy.
Original 11/22: Launched at $ 79, the Pixel Stand currently costs $ 39.50 on Google’s official U.S. store. Bright white, except for a nice orange underside, it is made of silicone and polycarbonate. The base is circular, while the charge coils are housed in an inclined oblong circle. The Pixel is prevented from slipping thanks to a ridged diaphragm.
When a phone is placed in the Pixel Stand, it switches to a modified ambient display that has a row of Assistant shortcuts at the bottom. Time and notification icons always appear above it.
Last month, Google updated the Pixel Stand to show “home controls” similar to Android 11’s power menu buttons.
This joins Sunrise alarms, which are now available for all Android devices through the Google Clock app, and Google Photos slideshows. You can also see Nest Hello video doorbell alerts.
The Pixel Stand provides up to 10W of charge for the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 5. Power up works in portrait or landscape mode. You can also use it to charge the Pixel Buds, as long as the case is upside down.
In the box, Google includes a 1.5m USB C-to-C cable and an 18W USB PD power adapter. These two accessories together cost $ 35, so you get a free wireless charger with this offer.
This is the biggest discount on the Pixel Stand since its launch two years ago. For the most part, the Made by Google accessory was overpriced compared to more affordable alternatives. Today’s deal, which is available until November 30, changes that equation.
