Callie Brownson to replace Cleveland Browns TE coach

Browns chief of staff Callie Brownson will take charge of the Cleveland Tight Ends on Sunday, after the wife of Tight Ends coach Drew Petzing gave birth to their first child on Saturday morning.

The team announced that Petzing would not make the trip to the Cleveland game in Jacksonville against the Jaguars and that Brownson would take responsibility, including working with tight ends.

Brownson, who joined Coach Kevin Stefanski’s freshman staff in the offseason, made the news earlier this year when she was part of the first game in NFL history with women coaching two sides (Brownson and Washington offensive assistant and intern Jennifer King) with another (Sarah Thomas) on the court in umpiring.

Brownson is in her second year as an NFL assistant. She turned a training camp with the Buffalo Bills into a full-time job with Sean McDermott’s staff last season. Previously, she was an offensive quality control coach at Dartmouth and a reconnaissance intern for the New York Jets. Brownson made his coaching debut at Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia from 2015 to 2017.
