On the eve of the crucial NFC West 49ers game at the Los Angeles Rams, the organization is narrowing its list of possible sites to relocate for at least the next three weeks.

The 49ers are looking for places in California and out of state to conduct practices as long as they are excluded from their Santa Clara facilities, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

The 49ers are currently only looking for out-of-state locations to play games, the source said.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department announced on Saturday that all contact sports, including professional teams, will be temporarily suspended from Monday for at least three weeks to combat the rapid spread of COVID-19.

After facing the Rams on Sunday, the club are set to play home games on Monday, Dec. 7 against the Buffalo Bills and on Sunday, Dec. 13 against Washington.

A source said the 49ers’ best bet is to play in Texas or Arizona. These are also the sites of the 49ers’ last two road games. The 49ers are scheduled to play in Dallas on Sunday, December 20, and Arizona on Saturday, December 26 or Sunday, December 27.

The 49ers’ last scheduled home game is on Sunday, Jan. 3 against the Seattle Seahawks.

The county’s ban on contact sports will ban the 49ers from practicing or playing games at Levi’s Stadium until at least December 21, making relocation necessary.

The 49ers have experience setting up a store away from Northern California.

The team have had three long stints away from Santa Clara between back-to-back East Coast games in the past two seasons. All three times, the team won the back end of the two-game road stands.

In 2019, the 49ers stayed in Youngstown, Ohio, between the first two games of the season – wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals.

They spent another week in Bradenton, Fla. Between Weeks 13 and 14, when they parted ways against the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.

The 49ers have won back-to-back games this season against the New York Jets and New York Giants. In between those games, the 49ers stayed and practiced at the Greenbrier, a resort town in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia.
