A high school student in Wisconsin has died from a brief illness linked to COVID-19, according to a report.
The student, identified as Isai Morocho, was a junior at Madison East High School. The teenager died “unexpectedly” during the Thanksgiving vacation “after a brief illness related to COVID,” according to an email sent to students and parents of Principal Brendan Kearney, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
“We also want to recognize this tragic loss of human life as a reminder of the threat the COVID-19 pandemic poses to all members of our community, young and old,” the email read. “Receiving news like this at a time when we are unable to come together and meet in person is especially difficult, and we all have our own ways of dealing with loss.”
No further details of the teenager’s death were provided and it was not immediately clear whether he suffered from any underlying conditions that may have made him more vulnerable to serious illness.
