Dr Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease doctor, says Broadway could perhaps shine again early next fall.
Fauci, in an interview with WNBC on Tuesday night, said if people get vaccinated in the spring when the vaccine becomes available to the general public, New Yorkers and the whole country could return to normal by the end of it. summer or early fall 2021.
“I think it will completely depend on the uptake of vaccines by the people of the country and especially the people of New York,” said Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“Since New York has a lot of tourists, it will probably be the whole country.”
Fauci said a return to normalcy would mean 75 or 85 percent of people would need to be vaccinated, and said people with underlying illnesses are a high priority.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday that health workers and residents of long-term care facilities should be the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is expected to be distributed from mid-December to the end of December.
