Of course, this was not a year of social media wins for BTS. The 2020 chart year (November 23, 2019 – November 14, 2020) saw the band score a No.1 album – their fourth – on the Billboard 200 with Soul Card: 7 in March, and “On,” the first single from that album, landed what was then its first No. 4 on Billboard Hot 100, No. 4, the same week. Even that personal best was broken in September, when “Dynamite” landed at No.1 for three weeks, K-pop’s first Hot 100 rule. The band got a second No. 1 on the Hot 100 in the follow-up year when they were featured on Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)”.
The remainder of the year-end Social 50 Top 10 is also largely made up of regular players. EXO is spending a third consecutive year as a finalist at No.2, despite a 2020 largely marked by the group’s hiatus as many of its members pursued solo or sub-unit projects. NCT 127 ranks No.3, beating its previous year-end best of No.7 in 2019, simultaneously scoring its first top 10 and top five on the Billboard 200 with NCT # 127: Neo Zone, the 2nd album, an outing n ° 5 with a peak in March.
2020 marks the first time in ranking history that the top three year-end are exclusively occupied by K-pop artists, and four of the top five are also from South Korea, thanks to seventeen in the n ° 5.
