Miley Cyrus has added a new cover art to her repertoire, performing Hole’s “Doll Parts” during an episode of The Howard Stern Show earlier this week on December 2.
While Cyrus said that she and her band had only worked on the cover the day before, the performance of the Live through it classic was immaculate, as Cyrus steadily built up to the mighty howl she unleashed as she repeated the closing chorus: “And someday you’ll hurt like me.”
Cyrus has shared a range of excellent covers throughout the promotional cycle for his new album, Plastic hearts. Previous selections include Blondie’s “Heart of Glass”, Cranberries ‘”Zombie”, The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry”, Hall and Oates “Maneater” and The Beatles’ “Help”. Cyrus has included his renditions of “Heart of Glass” and “Zombie” as bonuses on Plastic hearts, as well as.
Cyrus appears on the cover of the new issue of Rolling stone, where she discusses Plastic hearts, embracing rock on the album, and more. As for the sound of her new album, Cyrus admitted that making a rock album wasn’t part of a big plan, but a natural extension of where she was musically and personally.
“I could say I fucking planned it and I’m a fucking strategic genius, but I wish I could be that strategic,” she says. “I never know what kind of record I’m trying to do when I start doing it. And then because of the way my lifestyle [is] and where I am in my life, it’s okay and it still works because it’s just honest. I grew up listening to country music; we are storytellers. Each record is a story. “
