Kathie Lee Gifford talks about Bill Cosby, saying he crossed the line when he once tried to kiss her.
Gifford told People in a new interview that she and Cosby were good friends when they worked together for two years – until he moved with her one night.
“He tried to kiss me,” she said. “He was not the first man in a decades-long career that has come to me.”
Gifford did not tell People when the kiss was attempted.
But she has spoken about the awkward pass in the past, including when hosting the “Today” show in 2014, when she described the character who was no longer funny as having made a gesture when they did. toured together in the 1970s.
Gifford had also said at the time that Cosby backed down when she said no.
In September 2018, a Pennsylvania judge sentenced Cosby to three to ten years in prison for drugs and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, at her home more than ten years ago.
His conviction sparked a count in the #MeToo movement which also exposed disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, presenter Matt Lauer, among others, of sexual assaults on women.
Gifford recalled that she was “surprised” by Cosby’s move but “did not feel panicked”.
“The one and only time he tried to kiss me, I said, ‘No. Bill, you are my friend. He says, “You are right. Good night, ”Gifford told the magazine. “So I found these accusations against him very painful, because he is not the man I knew.
Gifford added that she will never understand why Cosby acted the way he did with his accusers.
“I had no doubts about women’s stories,” she told People. “I don’t know why he behaved like he did with the other women, that’s their story to tell.
