You can own The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut for free by downloading or updating the GOG Galaxy client. That’s right, CD Projekt Red gives the original epic that kicked off the behemoth fantasy series The Witcher and spawned one of the games that defined the last decade.
All you need to do is open GOG Galaxy or install the client if you haven’t already, go to the Recent tab and look for a banner that allows you to claim your copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. If you’ve already installed GOG Galaxy and don’t see the offer, you probably just need to update your client (that’s what I did).
The Witcher originally came out in 2007, and it got some pretty good reviews despite a myriad of technical issues. The Enhanced Edition was released the following year and fixed all buggy issues and added a bunch of new content – 2008 GamesRadar found the Enhanced Edition to be a big improvement. Finally, the Director’s Cut of 2009 is essentially the enhanced edition without any censorship of the North American version. This is the Director’s Cut that CD Projekt Red offers, so you can be sure you’re getting the best version of the game.
The giveaway comes days before the highly anticipated launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt’s latest effort set in the Dystopian City of Night. GamesRadar’s Sam Loveridge spent 16 hours with Cyberpunk 2077 and never wanted to leave Night City.
It’s still early, but here’s what we know so far about The Witcher 4.
