The Fitbit Sense is the company’s most advanced smartwatch to date, also being the first to support ECG. However, an issue with the ECG sensors on Fitbit Sense has some users needing a full hardware replacement.
Initially confirmed at The edge, Fitbit says some Sense owners have a “hardware issue” that affects the smartwatch’s ECG functionality. The company has sent out emails to affected users with the offer of a completely free full hardware replacement.
In a statement sent to 9to5Google, Fitbit says this issue only affects a “limited” number of people, but has been resolved in “future” Sense shipments. Affected individuals may see an “inconclusive” result when they go to take an ECG reading.
We found an issue in a very limited subset of our initial Fitbit Sense shipments – a few hundred devices worldwide – that could cause the default ECG app to show an “ inconclusive ” result on readings. We are able to identify affected devices during their setup and immediately contact those users to provide them with a new replacement device free of charge. No other Fitbit device is affected and future shipments of Sense devices will not be affected by this issue.

Once we receive your shipping details, you’ll receive an email with the next steps for your replacement, and then we’ll send you a new Fitbit Sense.
Fitbit Sense costs $ 329 and added its ECG app a few months ago following an update. Recently, support for Google Assistant has also been added.
